Poems made of light, journeys made of years.
Dr Terrell Neuage has been publishing picture poems, travel writing, and photography online since 1992 — long enough to have watched the web itself grow up alongside the work.
“I threw away my umbrella”
One line of a picture poem, paired the way Neuage has paired them for thirty years: an image from the road, a thought that outlasts the trip.
About
A life assembled from hotel rooms and homepages
Terrell Neuage started building web pages in 1992 while completing a Master's degree at Deakin University, writing his thesis on the influence of the World Wide Web on literature — years before "web design" was a job title.
What followed was a long, restless career at the intersection of writing and wandering: a hippie coming of age in the 1960s and 70s, a single parent, a teacher at an international school in Dalian, China, and eventually the author of the memoir Leaving Australia, which grew out of a stranger's suggestion at a pub at five in the morning.
He later completed a PhD constituting the Online Discourse Analysis Method (ODAM), studying how people actually talk to each other in chatrooms — a fitting subject for someone who has spent three decades publishing directly to the web himself.

Picture Poems
Thirty years of pairing image and line
